Latin Women in Action would like to thank you for joining us in our mission to serve our community. Taking action with us will not only serve as a learning opportunity, but a chance to serve the immigrant and Latinx communities in Corona, Queens. At LWA, we empower disadvantaged communities and are grateful for any help we get in supporting communities in need.

We work work with community organizations such as SYEP at Laguardia Community College to match with high school and college students looking for summer paid internships. The application for SYEP can be found here ( or at: application.nycsyep.com)

We also consider volunteers interested in learning more about immigration, domestic violence, community service, nonprofit work, and the Latinx community. We encourage applicants to fill out our volunteer & intern application as well as reach out via email or phone call. We are looking for volunteers who are passionate about the topics mentioned above and can utilize their creativity to help us better serve these communities. Since we work primarily with Spanish-speaking clients, some proficiency in the Spanish language would be useful for interns working in our office. Volunteers may do work including but not limited to:

  • working the front desk and directing clients who first walk in,
  • creating banners/flyers/posters to promote our services,
  • translating documents from Spanish to English or vice versa,
  • helping with community events such as back-to-school fairs (when needed),
  • developing and editing weekly newsletters,
  • managing our social media accounts,
  • updating and maintaining website
